Starting out as a financial trader with Ortus Africa Capital, Jesse has amassed experience in trading of the global financial markets across several asset classes such as the commodities, indices, precious metals, foreign exchange, stocks, and ETFs in utility sectors of finance, energy and industry.
Jesse also carried out a price action training series with an aim of producing a crop of experienced and highly motivated day traders from May 2020 to Oct 2020. This group of 24 students was exposed to the art of technical analysis in the trading of the global financial markets. Zoom classes were carried out on weekends with one to one meetings held with students during the weeks in order to finetune the concepts learned over the general weekend meetings. This experience helped enhance interpersonal skills as well as research skills that were needed to ensure that the students of the first cohort got the necessary skilling in order to achieve the initial objective. As of November 2020, 5 students had shown tremendous improvement and gained expertise not only in trade execution but also risk management, back testing and thorough analysis across all asset classes.
Jesse is currently involved in building an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). This will enable disruptive innovation in the financial sector of Uganda, where leveraged and/or inverted ETFs have not yet been sighted. The motive of this will not only be in greater transparency and expanded access as well as better tax efficiency than mutual funds, but also to tweak the trading landscape where pension funds, hedge funds and other institutional investors can connect their order flow with that of high net worth individuals as well as other retail investors and also enable price discovery for illiquid assets.
